Comments: Hello,

I just by accident found your web site and it has brought back alot of very fond memories. I was a member of the club when it was in the early stages. I took the course under Marshal at a YMCA in Altoona.By the way, I was a bricklayer for the company who built the the Holidaysburg YMCA,pool. We used to meet in each others houses for club meetings and Vick King used to bring movies of dives. Those were good days. I was newly married and money was tight so I never got to do any of the exotic dives. I remember Ganister, clover creek, Martinsburg twin quaries, and a place called clearwater. Bob Mauer was a very good friend of my father, my diver buddie on several occasions. I worked with his son Don in Ebensburg, A place called Trefoil [thats bankrupt and gone in the early 80's].I was fortunate enough to visit with Bob and Rose about 4 months before Bob's passing, and made a one day special trip to see Bob one last time at the funeral home in Carrolltown. I will miss him greatly. He was A good man. I was good friends with Jim Hostetler at the time. I was in the search and rescue team[once recovered a capsized sail boat in Glendale] Other times helped bring out bodies of those who drowned, in Glendale and a private lake behind Bob Mauers house. Those times I remember ,sadly. My time with the club was only a couple of years, but i think I still have some early  News letters somewhere.I moved away in 84 and still did alittle bit of diving but the second shift job sort of put a finish to that. I still have most of my equipment, but alot of it is dry rotted. I still have a red windbreaker with the club logo on it,most of us had that jacket then. I loved the diver mag the club bought for us, I always felt like I was there,on those special dives. Alas , I have not made a dive since my father died in 86.  But I remember..... Please tell Jim H. that I wrote the club, say hi.... Keep up the good work on the site,I will visit it every now and then. I live in Northfield,Ohio ,about 200 miles....My last dive was probably in Nelson Ledges, got to see the freshwater jellyfish,.....there was a treasure dive and some of the club members came out and stayed at my sisters ,in solon, ohio .A dive shop in Pittsburg, had a satelite shop here and they sponsored the dive. There were several of us that won prizes.......Ask a few of the early members  if they recall diving at Martinsburg and someone found a baggie floating at 60 feet  with a timex watch[still running] and some assorted jewelry... maybe a shotgun also.....Bob was at that dive.... oh the memories..... Good luck Laurel divers..
